Our Journey of Building and Remodeling in Bend, Oregon
This remodel project has embodied the spirit of transformation and perseverance. Spearheaded by us, Steve and Kirsten, at Appel Design + Construction. Our endeavor began last fall with the vision to breathe new life into a tired property and create a true dream home for our family and business. With just about a month left until completion, the journey thus far has been nothing short of a rollercoaster ride filled with challenges, triumphs, and the stoke to see our vision come to life.
From the outset, we knew that undertaking a full house remodel while simultaneously running a business wouldn't be a walk in the park. We packed and moved out of our old home, cramming most of our possessions into a storage unit and only grabbing the essentials to get us through the next 9 months. Armed with excitement, years of expertise, a dedicated team, and little Lou, our French Bulldog, we embarked on this adventure.
Initial excitement aside, the road to Hezekiah Haven was not without its obstacles. Running a business while simultaneously managing a major construction project demanded a delicate balance of time, resources, and teamwork. The logistical intricacies of coordinating schedules, sourcing materials, applying for permits, building during the cold winter months, and adhering to deadlines tested our resolve. With an extensive number of remodels under our belt, we have had the belief that every challenge was merely an opportunity for growth, strengthening our problem solving skills for our clients who undergo the similar events during their remodels.
Living amidst the chaos of construction presented its own set of challenges. But amidst the dust and debris, a sense of camaraderie emerged—a shared determination to see the project through to the end. As the days turned into weeks and the weeks into months, Hezekiah Haven began to take shape. From full-fledged demolition to sheetrock and new floors, every detail so far has been carefully thought out. Our goal was to create a space that not only exudes elegance and function, but also radiates warmth and comfort.
As we start the last leg of our journey to completion, the anticipation is palpable. This next month we are full of renewed vigor and excitement, eager to see all the details come together.
Our success in this industry has never been measured solely on the end results, but on the journey. We hope to share this small story of our home renovation journey so future clients know that we have walked in their shoes. Below are progress photos taken over the last few months.
